Have you finished setting up your Small Business Saturday and “Shop Small” promotions for Black Friday? You might want to start soon and get these posted, advertised and shared with your customers and clients.
Even if you are not a retail business, in many communities, the marketing, advertising and social media messaging make it loud and clear that customers want to shop from smaller, local businesses in the month of November. As the kick off of the annual Holiday Shopping Season (think Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and more), the Shop Small® icon is often seen online, on television, in print and heard on radio, including Spotify and Pandora… leading up to the end of year holidays.
American Express has been working on this for years and we appreciate that they have provided so much support to those businesses that we also love. Whether you are an independent business owner or a local owner operator in a franchise brand (as long as there are no more than 250 franchisees), you can probably benefit from being a part of this growing movement.
Consumers look for this and AmEx helps give a structured, louder voice to those businesses who are local when they use the brand signage. You don’t even have to accept American Express cards as part of using the templates – even though we think you might want to in order to best serve your customer’s card preferences – and, what is even better, it is easy to customize online. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you use these tools, but we believe that if you apply them in practice, you can benefit this season from those consumers who will focus on shopping local and sharing the hashtags. Learn more about how you and your business can get involved.
Finally, TransAct is promoting one of our favorite local organizations this season with a $5 donation (up to $500) to the Bucks County SPCA when a customer mentions this promotion as they shop at any of these three local stores:
