We have a rule in our networking group – never skip breakfast on Tuesdays. It is just as important to show up this week, next week and the week after as it is on the day you present the benefits of working with your business.
Every week, every month and throughout the year – my team and I attend our local chapter meetings with BNI. As part of a closed networking group, you have to show up consistently to be the one to represent your business and your industry.
Your breakfast meeting doesn’t have to happen on Tuesday, nor does it have to be a breakfast meeting (often chapters meet for lunch, too.)
The point is that you commit to showing up and you learn about the other members of your group, you share ideas, you share the latest industry trends and your experience. You help each other develop and find clients for your businesses.
I have been a member of BNI for years and wouldn’t be where I am today without the dedication to showing up – when I say I will – and being a part of a networking organization.
It is not surprising to me when I look through the client roster and realize that many of TransAct clients have found us through referrals. I admit that I appreciate each and every one.
If you are thinking about how to develop your business, how to take it to the next level, you may want to consider BNI or another relevant industry networking group. Even if you can’t do a weekly breakfast, be committed, get involved and learn how to help others…they will begin to help you, too.
